About 4 years ago, I got J-1 at Sydney as a PR of Australia and a Chinese citizen. I was subjected to 2 years role.
I hope you have good luck. You may not have same situation. When I am in US I took "advisory opinion". I got letter from the state of US indicating I don't subject to the 2 years role.
