canada immi document question

I got a letter from Canada consulate in Buffalo, asked me to provide "Updated Certified True Copies of letters of reference detailing present employer." What does "Updated Certified Ture Copies " mean? Should I provide oringinal work reference letter? or Notarized copy or just a normal photocopy? Thanks!
