If so, no matter of what kind of visa you were previously holding, you are eligible for AP, given
that USCIS has officially received your application
for adjustment of status, i.e., your I-485 case.
Even though you were an F-1 student before turning in
your I-485 case, you can come back to USA with AP after traveling abroad. AP means that you don't need
a visa anymore while passing through a checkpoint of the US customs. To the best of my knowledge, there is no negative consequence whatsoever if one travels with AP. The only problem is that AP is only valid for one year and hence you have to reapply for a new AP once the
current one has expired.
Do you mean Advance Parole?
