I believe for LC the key is the employer would like to hire you for a future job, not sure if it has to be permanent. And with PERM's coming the LC procedure might get lots of change. One other thing, most of my post-doc friends started with I-140 NIW (or something similar) directly, they didn't go through LC. Might be something you can also think about since you are at post-doc.
