GC application for my Mom?

My Mom is currently in US as B2 visa, which will be expired within two months. I would like to apply GC for her using my citizenship. I am not so sure that I should extend her B2 visa, or just file GC application directly?

Also, I do not know the detail procedures of GC application using citizenship. Could anyone provide some details about it to me? Thanks!
