Because it only takes 3 years for the US citizen spouse to be qualied for application US citizenship from the day the spouse became a green card holder, the physical presence for a US citizen's spouse in US has to be at least 18 months. But a regular green card holder needs to wait for 5 years to be qualifed for application for US citizenship, so the physcail presence has to be at least 30 months.
