I checked with you before regarding my green card renewal. Thank you for your kind help!
I did green card renewal application in Aug 2020. My GC was approved through employment and expired on Aug. 1, 2021. On March 2021, I got receipt for automatic one year renewal from the expiration date of the green card. I did my biometrics in June 2021.
Then I kept calling USCIS for the status of the case. I was told it was a renewal . Then my case was moved to tier2 agent. On April 27, 2022, I got a text stating within 1-2 business days USCIS agent was going to call me. I did not get a call but got an email on Saturday April 30, 2022 stating “After careful review of your inquiry, we determined that your issue will be best addressed by the USCIS office processing your case; therefore, we are forwarding your inquiry to the Potomac Service Center.”
On my GR application I check 2.j “I have a prior edition of the alien Registration Card or I am applying to replace my current permanent Resident Card for a reason that is not specified above.” It is a mistake, I meant to renewal my green card which is 2f “My existing card has already expired or will expire within six months.”
-I don't think it will be a problem and it should not affect your green card renewal application. USCIS have all your green card application and approval record, and they should find this error very easily and fix it for you because it is just very minor and common mistake when completing the form, not your intention to hide somehting.
What should I do for the situation at this point? I truly appreciate your advice!
-You may call USCIS again. Because of the Covid influence, the case processing in USCIS may be slower than normal.
