Immediate filing of I-140/I-485 by a sponsor can give you status. You can file I-485 now but knowing even after Jan 1, it will sit on the shelf for years before it will be processed. It's too late for EAD now, but you can still file and pray EAD to be issue based on USCIS's mistake and imcompetence.

China nurse degree is not on the eligible list for H1C.
