Not working now doesn't look good, but that won't kill your chance. But if it is really your intention not to work in this field anymore, then officer should deny your I-485 by law.
You have to show you are positively looking for work and still engage in your field, as RFE puts it "specify how you intend to serve the national interest and confirm that you intend to carry out the terms and conditions of the underlying _140 petition."
