8老師您好！我在美國境內申請父母綠卡。他們拿到綠卡一個月後就回國了。
爸爸想照顧老人暫時不想回美國，可能近三年都不準備回美國了，離不開也沒可能回來辦理回美紙。
請教一下，他三年不回來是不是等同綠卡作廢？
-Yes.

因為幾年後，老人萬一不在了，我媽媽有綠卡，她還是想把我爸爸申請過來的。
-You can sponsor him green card again as you did first time.


 考慮到以後還要申請爸爸，我爸爸是否現在需要去大使館申明放棄綠卡？
-Not have to do it now. He can do it any time in the future after the green card is invalid one year later.


會影響以後申請嗎？
-No.

以後應該會在國內等待申請了。
之前爸爸在美國拿到綠卡還申請了ssn，怎麽辦呢？
-He can have the SSN for his life long, so he does not need to apply for the SSN again in the future.

但從來沒交稅。申請過ssn以後再申請綠卡會有影響嗎？
-Should not because he is retired and his income from his retirement benefit in China may be not enough to file income tax return.
