Not really true.

You still can use the H-1 benefit to work for the employer (not need to use EAD). You can extend or transfer your H-1 as usual to reinstate your H-1 status. Even if your I-485 is denied, you still can stay and work as usual. So, use of AP is not much different from use of H-1 visa.
