NIW=EB2 or just one of EB2?

Maybe it is a stupid question,but could anyone kindly help me to clarify one concept? Is EB2 the same as NIW? I am very confused right now because all the immigration websites mention that NIW doesn't need LC (NIW is in EB2 category), but employers can file EB2 after LC approved, what does it mean? Does NIW equal to EB2, or NIW just one type of EB2? If NIW is just one type of EB2, then what are other types of EB2? If a person doesn't qualify for EB1 or NIW, is EB3 the only option for him (H1B holder)? Appreciate your comments!
