OPT or H1 to come back to USA?

My situation is: I am on OPT now. I can also get a H1 (nonprofit organization) if I apply for it. However, I plan to first land Canada to get my Maple Card and then come back to the USA to search for a job. So in order to come back, should I keep OPT or get H1???
