You added a complication by traveling to Canada before 9/16/2014 and after your new H-1B approved. Your new H-1B expiration date in year 2017 has been overwritten by stupid border officer. You had better visit a CBP deferral office near your city and request the office to reset your H-1B expiration back to year 2017. Good luck.
