2014年3月6日，加拿大新斯科舍省提名辦公室對新斯科舍省提名移民項目作出一係列改變，原有的社區選擇項目替換為全新的本地緊缺行業移民項目(Regional Labour Market Demand)。有意願在新斯科舍省定居的指定行業內的技術工作人員，將有機會通過這一項目來到加拿大新斯科舍省，並取得永久居民權。
值得一提的是，這個全新的新斯科舍省技術類移民項目無需申請人擁有加拿大工作合同（雇主擔保）。申請人隻需要在過去的5年內，在以下行業擁有連續兩年以上的全職工作經驗：
