A friend of mine is interested in knowing if a religious believer can get greencard via applying for religious asylum. The interesting part is: he feels limited in his religious activities, but not threatened back in China. He doesn't want to lie.
1. Can he still apply for greencard via religious asylum? In addition, he doesn't want his family to be in an awkward situation if he succeeds.
2. Will this happen to his family back in China if he succeed?
If you don't know the answer to the 2nd question, just ignore it.
BTW, he is in US now. His job is not in a religious profession. He is a professor majoring in folklore.
Thanks if anyone can help.
