我記得幾年前申請綠卡隻寄了護照的複印件，隻要不出美國，用不到護照原件。現在朋友的孩子要隨父親辦綠卡（朋友的先生是L1，朋友和她女兒隨先生在辦綠卡),可又要給孩子辦稅號ITIN報稅，現在IRS要求把護照原件寄給IRS.

要用3-6個月。朋友擔心辦綠卡要用護照原件。我仔細想了一下我辦綠卡的過程，似乎沒有用到過護照原件，除了把整本護照複印寄給USCIS。您能確認一下嗎？

我勸朋友的女兒等綠卡（預計三月拿到），辦SSN，就不用申請稅號了，大不了申請延期報稅（由4/15推到8月),朋友擔心綠卡拖得時間太長，還是想先給女兒申請稅號。
