I'm J1-visa and will work in China two years, however, I plan to be back United States, I just want to know how to calculate 2 years and avoid some troubles. 1) how to prove I already have2 years period in China, from stamps on my passport, is that right, or need any other documents to send to the U.S. immigartion. example, I leave United States: 07/20/2012, then I get F1-student visa 05/10/2014, and enter the United States at 08/05/2014.
The two years would be from 07/20/2012 --- 05/10/2014 less than 2 years ( still have about 2 months not wavier) or it would be 07/20/2012 --- 08/05/2014. (2 -years waiver finish).
-It is 07/20/2012 --- 08/05/2014 (from the date you leave US to the date you reenter US).
For future H1 visa and green card, I just need to send the time stamps to the U.S. immigration office, is it enough to get automotive waiver?
-Besides the entry/exit passport stamps, you may also provide other related documents such as airplane boarding cards, etc. You can use affidavits from people who see you in the community such a your neigbors, friends, government officials, etc... Also you can contact the local US Consulate and have them indicate you are actually in that country; pay stubs from your work, bank statements, rental agreements, and government documents are also useful. Anyway, collect evidences as many as you can.
