請教: why the I-485 case number can not be found online or by call

I submitted I-485 on October 1st, 2012 including my son as the independent.  We received the receipt notices yesterday.  However the priority date on my son’s receipt notice is incorrect (it is actually the October 1st, 2012).  I called the USCIS Customer Service Number provided at the bottom on the receipt notice, but it said the case can not be found.  I checked the online status, and the case can not be found either.  Can anybody explain this? and what should I do next?  Thank you very much!
