1. F-1 student can open their own business, but they can't work for that company. So, no salary.
2. F-1 student can make moneys as long as it's not so called "salary". You can invest in stock, currency trade etc., but it's your investment gain, not salary.
3. H-1B can open your own business. That company (which is your own company) needs to apply the H-1B visa for you if you want to work for that company (which means receive salary from that company).
