Pijiang and 86 Masters,
I am a J1 holder visiting postdoc from Aug 2010. I have about 1 year left and want to get my J1 2-year home country residence waived. However, since I was named directly by NIH as the funding receiver, my International officer said most likely my J1 waiver will be denied if I petition through No objection from China. I am hosted by my university and do researches with my mentors.
1. Am I falling into the category that I am supported by government resource? Should I say yes that I am supported by US government in the waiver form?
2. Do you think I am a NIH employee? Should I get a No Objection letter from NIH too?
3. What will be my best solutions to continue my career in the US? Find another J1 job or find a lawyer to help on the J1 waiver?
Masters, please give me a hand or anyone with similar experience please shed lights on me.
Thank you all so much!
