My son is in high school now, and he is working in an internship program.

-depends on the school program. For example, F-1 student can work legally as CPT for the internship as long as the school International Office approve it (not need USCIS approval).

 Would this affect our green card petition? We do not file I-485 yet.

-If he has illegal work record, he had better go outside US to get the visa such as F-1 or H4 to come back to remove the record automatically before he files I-485.
