I have been working with the current employer since 2006. First with OPT, then converted to H1B in 2007, and extended in 2011. The employer changed its name in 2008 (only name changed, the business didn't) because they swithed teaching affilation from University A to University B.  

In the emplyoment letter, my Dean points out the name change time. I also got a copy of the 2008 company annual report and hightlight the part that showing the name change.

Will these two documents be enough to deal with name change? 

-You do not need to do anything for your H1 status and just extend it before your current H1 I-94 expires by the new employer's name.

If you have an approved I-140, but do not file I-485 yet, your employer (new name) needs to file an I-140 amendment. But If your I-485 has been filed for > 180 days, you do not need to do anything.
