Great, I think that is the answer I am looking for. Assume that I re-start the whole process in another company and when it is time to file 485, the visa bulletin date could already be somewhere end of 2008 or 2009, then based on my original PD date (5/1/2008) I can file 485 anytime, correct?

-Yes. As long as your PD is earlier than the Visa Bulletin cut-off date when you file I-485, it will be OK.
