F1 versus F2 in job hunting

A short question:

    Which status is better for job hunting (F1 versus F2)? My case: used up OPT. Lost the job and came back to school. Might be able to start with CPT if an offer comes because international program officer told me so (she is very familiar with the rules and regulations). But, can only use CPT at the start of each semester. Probabaly, I need H1B to start in most cases.

     Too hard to continue as a F1. Want to change to F2. 

     Many people here are experienced. Please give some suggestion.
