Dear masters, please give suggestions on a potential offer.

 

 I might have a potential offer from a famous university. The boss doesn't want to do H1B sponsorship, only J. This is a funded position.

     My area is somewhat narrow. Very limited openings nationally. I am hesitating: (1) if I get this position, difficult for me to move onto the next position. J waiver takes about 4 -8 months. Which institution is willing to wait that long? (2) This might be an opportunity to build up my resume with more publications. (3) The boss is a Taiwanese. He seems to be firm on J visa, causing me to be concerned about if he is a nice person. In fact, this univ has a lot of money,but they may not pay attention to position like this. They only spend money on faculty hiring. In his recent email, he explained that their research budget changes each year and limits their resources for use.
