Dear Masters: about J1 waiver and J2 waiver

 

There might be an offer from a very famous institution. Initially, the boss said she could only sponsor regular H1 B application, implying premium processing was too expensive. Next, she told me that her department could not sponsor H1B and that they could only do J1 application.

 My child is living with me now and going to university soon. If I become J1 holder, he will be a J2 holder.

 (1)   When can J1 holders start waiver?

 (2)   How can J2 holders get waiver? Only through J1 holder? If he is admitted into university, can that university help with his waiver?
