Canada Immig Questions

Our Canada immigration application was sent in April 2003 to Buffalo. In May 2003, we got the first letter. My hu*****and is the main applicant. He was working as a Post doc at the U.S. at that time. On Aug. 2003 - Aug. 2004, he worked as Post doc at Canada. I was staying in the U.S. with H1B visa. We got the second letter in March, 2004. We finished the Medical exam in April 2004. U.S.Finger print has been done in May 2004. (My hu*****and did his finger print in Canada too in April 2004. We didn't know when the result could be sent to Buffalo.) The problem is I born a baby in Feb. 2004. We sent all the documents including my new born baby's application and the landing fee in May 2004. in June 2004, my hu*****and got a letter ask him to take some more extra labs for his medical exam. That was done at the end of July. In July 2004, my hu*****and got another letter that ask him to update his information during April 2003 to July 2004. He did not get a update form. It is only a letter. He sent his updated information to Buffalo in July 2004. Now my hu*****and has quitted the job at Canada and back to the U.S. with H-4 visa. We sent the updated information againg in Sep. 2004. Now we still waiting for the medical exame forms for our baby. My questions are
1. How long will our application get delay since adding our baby's information?
2. Is my hu*****and under backgroud check?
