PJAING, 863211, have a question, greatly appreciate your help!

The thing is this month(Aug) my priority date is current, so I asked my lawyer about the service request as I remember that from pijang's post on the top I should be doing that at the end of this month if no news at all. but the lawyer replied that"the pocessing time for an I-485 is 4-6months. We will not be able to submit a Service Request until your case is outside normal processing times. If and when that becomes the case,we will be happy to submit a Service Request on your behalf", Now I am very confused, should I be doing that on my own at the end of Aug which should not mess up my case right as I am not going to let the lawyer know if I will need to do that on my own or listen to my lawyer(but I am afraid that I will be wasting my time just waiting), Million thanks for your help!!
