CPT versus J and others: please give suggestion! Pjiang and 8 te

  I have an email offer. The boss wants me to start early. I have talked about this. I might be able to start with CPT if the school agrees. The current school requires the signatures from 3 persons--program director, chair for dissertation, coordinator to sign. My concern is the chair. He looks tough and calculating. If he agrees, he knows that would mean I am dropping out of their program (this is a master program. I had my PhD from another school). Another issue is that I need to pay $8000 to school for CPT

  At the same time, I am considering J. With J, it is quick. However, I need to do the waiver. Also, can any people tell me how to apply J visa without home residence requirement? 

   At this moment, I don't know if they can act as exchange sponsor yet.
