I have H1B visa and am going to be layoff. From my wife's company I also have I485 filed and got an EAD, and my wife also has H1B visa.
After layoff, I will apply for Unemplyment benefits and look for a job. I wonder whether I should change to H4 visa as my wife's dependent or use EAD instead.
-Don't think you need to change your status to H4. Just use EAD to work with AOS or get the UI benefits.
If I change to H4, is it OK for me to apply for UI benefits?
-Yes, but if you get the benefits, you lose your H4 status.
