-It does not matter unless your H1 reaches the 6 year limit (you are not in this situation yet because you said you just did the H1 extension). You also can use EAD to work if the new employer does not sponsor you H1. You do not need to find the same/similar area job. Any job is OK to you because you are not the 綠卡的主申請人.
