It's your application, but you need to tell the truth about your marital status.  After your assylum case is approved, you can then decide whether you want to apply for your spouse to join/accompany you or not.  you cannot lie and say you are single/divorced now, lying on the form may cause your future immigration benefits(such as GC or US citizenship) being stripped.
