Help: Travel outside US while H1B and AP pending

Due to family emergy, we have to go back to China soon. Currently, our H1B will expire within 30 days, and extension has been filed one month ago. Both h1B and AP are pending. We have canada passport. So, do we have any risks coming back to US? anything we need prepare? Thanks for help.
