Hi Teacher 863211,
I am filing GC application for my dad in China, and all the documents have been ted to NVC. However, I heard from a friend recently that if the non-criminal certification is over a year at the time of a parent's interview at GuangZhou Emabassy, then the parent would be asked to get a new non-criminal cerfitication.
I would like to have your opionion on this. If that's the case, I would inform my dad to get an update one before he receive the interview notice from GuangZhou Embassy.
-Based on common sense, the certificate of non-criminal record should reflect the recent status, but I really do not know whether the certificate of one year old is accepted by the US Consulate. You may contact the US Consulate or just get the updated certificate when the interview is scheduled. For the safe reason, your father may just get the updated certificate of non-criminal record.
