到底什麽是“申請時需至少半年的有效在美停留期限”，

是說我在申請時已經在美停留半年以上了呢？

還是說在申請時我必須要有半年以上的合法身份？
-Yes.

我不明白“Contact the Chinese Embassy/Consulate in US for the information”的作用如何，因為領事館網站上要求豁免的六項條件缺一不可，關鍵是這一項很困惑我，

不知道我的情況到底符不符合要求？
-I do not think you are qualified for “申請時需至少半年的有效在美停留期限”.

One strategy is that you may just file I-485 and then, get the I-485 receipt, then you may use this I-485 receipt as the proof of your legally presence for the J1 waiver. I am not sure it will work, but it deserve trying.


USCIS will send you RFE for J1 waiver and will deny your I-485 if you do not provide it. But you can file the I-485 again after you get the J1 waiver.
