Help! Questions about Using EAD

1. My H-1B will expire in 9/2010. Can I use EAD to work until I get a green card because I don't know how many years I should wait for a green card (EB3 and PD 3/2006)?

2. Are there any problems if I work at my current company or work at any companies in the US with my EAD because the current company will lay off some people soon.
