H1b Change of status question

I got H1, was laid off before Oct. 1 last year (so never worked as H1). I switched back to F1. My former employer withdrew my H1 later on after Oct 1.

Now I got a new job and the new employer is going to do change of status for me from F1 back to H1.

Will my petition to change of status work out fine? If the H1 change of status is approved, do I need to get out of the country to activate my H1?
