My hu*****and announced proudly that he would never think about the US citizenship because it's an identity issue. I thought it quite absurd. Citizenship is simply a label; it wouldn't change the fact that we're Chinese.
I didn't argue with him on this though, as people change. Upon receiving her green card, a good friend of mine was even more "patriotic" than my hu*****and, but she had her oath ceremony two years ago. The reason is simple: this way she could get her parents here.
