This person with H1 status used AP and then, I-485 was denied. But he/she had successfully re-instated his/her h1 after the I-485 was denied just simplly filed H1 extension. I also suggest you to read the Pjiang's blog for this kind of information. Anyway, using AP is pretty safe for H1 holders if you do not have dependents who rely on your H1 status.
