if you work for the US employer in China, but pay the tax to the US Government, USCIS may think you still work in US or may think you do not meet the two year home resident requirement, and thus affect your GC application. So, you had better not pay the tax to the US Government, but pay it to the Chinese Government. This is just my understanding, and it does not mean USCIS will think that way, but you have to think that way to avoid any bad situation.
