Both of you said I am in F1 status now. But my H1-B lawyer said differently, could you comment. I can not 100% trust the lawyer. please see below:

The work permit approval did not interfere with your H-1B status, like a subsequent change of status to F-1 student would have. Don't worry about it.
-it seems what your lawyer said is reasonable because USCIS did not issue a new I-94 with your OPT EAD approval. Normally, the I-94 is the evidence of the status. No new I-94 means your old F1 status did not overide your H1.
