I am doing postdoc, on H1B, NIW and 485 pending. Have EAD card, but have not used it yet.

Now need to change to part time, 20 hours/week.

My university said that even on part time, my H1B is till valid.
-Your school is correct, so just ask the school to file an h1 amendment to change the full time h1 to parttime h1. You can change it to full time h1 anytime in the future if possible. Please note that Part-time h1 status = full time H1 status = H1 status.

But I think part time job will make H1B invalid,
-Wrong.

and I will have to use EAD.

You know lots of time, staffs at university are not familiar with visa issue, even they are called immigration specialist. Pjiang, 863211, other friends, could you tell me who is right?
