You have to have a valid visa for your dependents applying their visa. As you changed your status within US, you have to get out of US to use it. You can still do third country visa, like go to Canada or Mexico to apply it. But there are still possibility of deny. If that happens, then you have to go back to China. Therefore, I suggest you go back to your home country in the first place.

You have to renew your passport 6 month before your valid date. It has nothing to do with your validate duration of H1.

Your wife and child need to prove their relationship with you when they applying their visa. I guess you also have enough money to support them.
