Has your EB1A I-140 been approved yet? Permanent position is reqiured for EB1B I-140, not EB1A I-140. But for the I-485, technically all the EB categories including EB1A require the applicant to be employed (or will be employed once getting GC) in a permanent position. So, you may just ask your Dept. Chair or Dean to write a letter indicating that your position has no specific term (or unlimit in duration) and you (the employee) will have an expectation of continued employment (not need to say the position is permanent).
Also, you may just ask your Chiar or Dean indicate your position is research associate or research scientist (not use Postdoc research Associate).
