My friend is planning to send in her N400 application.
She wants to know if she needs to send in a notarized divorce certificate along with her application. She is currently NOT married
and her ex-husand obtained his greencard as a dependent through I485 with her being the principal applicant. They got married in China and the divorce was also done in China (after his greencard got approved).
She originally intended to just leave this marriage out of the application since nothing happened in the US (marriage and divorce). And it seems that not including this marriage in the application will not affect her citizenship application whatsoever (after all, she was the principal applicaton of I485). But she said that the instruction for N400 says to include proof of all earlier marriages, why does this matter? Your expert reply is highly appreciated.
