For EDD, the point is it has to know your status of every two weeks. If you fail to mail the reply mail even once, it will trigger the EDD to invest your benefit.
You can try to contact them by email them, ask what you can do and should do.

For my understanding if your balance is still not 0, then you should be able to claim them back. Not positive though.
