My OPT ends on Aug 5. I think I am still F1 status. However, my school councilor said that my I-20 expired last year - the time I started my OPT. So they will give me a new I-20 and I have to depart the country to get a new F1 visa.

How do I tell them I am still valid F1 status? Do you know any regulations?
