I have the same situation with you. I landed Canada with my family (they are my dependents) via Buffalo in April 2004. We weren't requested to get new visas when we were back to US via Niagara port. I suggest you reserve visa interview at Torondo on the day right after that day you are back to US without new H-1B visa just in case you are required to have new visa.
