i applied for RP early this year, the reason was related to one of my entries last year, the officer at the entry point told me I had to apply for it even I was gone only for 5 months, my lawyer thought he was just giving me hard time, but I applied for it anyway. But I have never used it since I had no problem to enter for the following a few times.
